Ten cities and water/wastewater utilities in Europe participate in the EU co-funded R&D project PREPARED, enabling change. This project focuses on climate change adaptation and is constructed around the needs of the utilities. The R&D partners are tasked with developing innovative solutions for the challenges posed by climate change under differing conditions. Their innovations will be demonstrated in the participating cities, being Barcelona, Berlin, Eindhoven, Genoa, Istanbul, Gliwice, Lisbon, Lyon, Oslo, Simferopol and Aarhus. The different cities/utilities are in different phases of progress and they will present their interesting results during the IWA conference on Water-Climate-Energy between 13th and 18th May 2012 in Dublin (http://iwa-wcedublin.org/ ).
However, it has always been the goal of the PREPARED project to build a strong network of enthusiastic and innovative water utilities that would like to learn from each other and share experiences beyond the life and beyond the specific topics of the R&D project. For this we are organising a day dedicated specifically to the participating utilities in the IWA conference on Water-Climate-Energy (Dublin) on 14th May 2012. This is labeled the 1st PREPARED Alliance Forum.
We would like to invite all utilities to join our forum, which will give you an opportunity to exchange your experience on practical climate change adaptation issues such as flood protection, management of raw water sources, etc. For the programme, click here.
